Swim Marathon Participant Rules & Guidelines
Our top priority continues to be the safety of all and ask that if you have any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or any other infectious virus prior to the event please do not attend.
Overview
Date: Saturday, August 1, 2026
Departure:
Long Island Sound Ferry, Bridgeport
6:00 am sharp
Start:
Approx. 8:30-9:30 am
White Hall Beach, Port Jefferson, NY
Finish:
Approx. 3:00-7:00 pm
Captain’s Cove Seaport, Bridgeport, CT
Distance:
15.5 miles (25km) across Long Island Sound
Time Limit:
9 hrs, 30 min.*
Fundraising Goals:
- SOLO swimmers – $1,500
- TWO-PERSON relay – $3,500
- TEAM relays – $7,500
- CORPORATE CHALLENGE relay – $10,000
- UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE relay – $7,500
Registration Deadline for All Swimmers:
Thursday, June 18, 2026, or earlier at the discretion of the Swim Committee based on resources.
* The Swim committee may grant additional time under certain swim conditions or circumstances
Max # of Participants:
- We have reserved 10 solo swimmers, 5 two-person relays and up to 40 team relays – a maximum of 55 swimming boats for relays and solos combined
- Exceptions may be considered under the discretion of the Swim Committee
Minimum Age:
- 19 years old for solo swimmers and two-person relay team members
- 13 years old for relay team members
- Exceptions may be considered under the discretion of the Swim Committee
Boats:
- Each swimmer/team has an escort boat
- We ask all swimmers to help in our efforts to recruit boat captains by reaching out to family, friends and/or colleagues to secure a boat for the day

Awards:
- Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to male and female solo swimmers
- Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to all the relay team categories
- The relay team category focuses more on fundraising efforts for cancer programs sponsored by the Swim, rather than race results
