Over the past 38 years, a simple challenge taken on by five Boston College graduates—swimming across the Sound to raise $5,000—has evolved into a major annual tradition. Today, the Swim Marathon attracts over 200 swimmers and 100 boaters each year, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for a great cause.

This remarkable 25-kilometer (15.5-mile) journey from Whitehall Beach in Port Jefferson, NY, to Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, CT, can take anywhere from 5.5 to over 10 hours to complete. It’s an inspiring test of endurance and dedication, all in support of an incredible mission!
