Laura Mazzadra, Volunteer of the Year
At the first Volunteer Reception held since the pandemic, we were thrilled to celebrate the incredible journey and contributions of Laura Mazzadra, who has devoted countless hours to St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound. With a spirit of resilience and determination, Laura has been a part of our family for more than a decade!
She first learned about the Swim when her sister-in-law lost her battle with breast cancer. Wanting to help others, she decided to join the fight by participating in the St. Vincent’s Cancer Walk event, raising an incredible $1,700 in just one year.
Laura then began to volunteer in support of our mission, engaging in various office tasks, helping at events, crocheting prayer shawls, and making scarves for our Medical Mission. Her commitment to helping others not only provided invaluable support to our organization but also created a meaningful impact within the community.
In Fall 2017, her dedication transitioned into a professional role as our office and volunteer coordinator, a position held until May 2021. During this time, Laura played an essential role in advancing our development efforts, connecting with supporters, and helping to organize impactful events.
Even after retirement in 2021, Laura has continued to be a shining example of generosity by dedicating time to volunteer again at events. The heart and devotion shown throughout the years inspire us all, and we are proud to have her as part of our St. Vincent’s family.
Thank you, Laura, for your unwavering commitment and for being a beacon of hope for others! We are grateful for your support throughout the years and are proud to name you as the 2025 Volunteer of the Year!
